SUYL Nursery Edition

Well, since we'll be in the car for a little longer it seems like the perfect time for a link up! So today I'm linking up with Kelly at Kelly's Korner Blog to show you our nursery. The pictures I have on my phone are from before BGT arrived so it has changed a bit since then but we will work with what I have on my phone.

The room is actually fairly large but with the arrangement of the furniture it is hard to get a full view of the room without a wide angle lens. So on to the details!

The paint color is Sherwin Williams Grassland and took FOREVER to choose but I love how it turned out. I knew I wanted something in a green or taupe but wanted to still keep with the overall feel of the house and I think we were able to do just that. The furniture is Davenport by Baby Appleseed and HUGE but I love it. We decided on gender neutral furniture in case we are able to have other children in the future.

The beautiful block letters on the wall were a gift from my sister Morgan and were hand made by a sweet chickee she found on Etsy. Morgan originally bought me the Bennett but when we decided to double name her, I contacted Adina at ohmybuttonsandbows on Etsy and she made the matching Grace. She is so great to work with and I would recommend her to anyone! The bedding is Penelope by Pottery Barn Kids. I saw the tiny birds and melted. We got the glider for Christmas from my mama and I love to sit in it and read BGT loads of Dr. Suess books. I know she is little but she seems to like it :) We have a beautiful memento from our baby shower- a drawing of a tree with leaves made from the guest's finger prints. I have been looking for the perfect frame so that it can make its home above the reading corner. I don't have a picture of her basket of books but there are tons. My favorite part is that in lieu of cards at our shower the guests brought their favorite books with a note to Bennett Grace inside the cover, so when we read to her I make sure to read the messages to her so that hopefully one day she will know just how many people loved and prayed for her even before she arrived. The tree on the wall was supposed to be hand painted but with my bed rest and the time constraints we ended up ordering the decal online from SimpleShapes on Etsy and Sean and my dad painstakingly took hours placing each leaf and branch on the wall. It turned out so much better than I could have expected. The closet has lovely double doors and is packed full of tiny clothes that I can't seem to stop myself from buying. And finally the wreath on the door was hand made.by my BFF Heather for my baby shower.

It is still a work in progress but I'm loving how it has turned out this far!!

  1. I've heard of having books-themed baby showers, but hadn't heard of completely replacing the card with a book. I just love that idea, and hopefully someday I can host a shower with a similar idea. The room itself is adorable! I love both the letters hanging over the crib and the tree.

And just letting you know I'm stopping by from Kelly's Korner.
